Reclaiming the Orient: The Persian Rug is a handwoven rug measuring 1.5x2.5 meters. Inspired by traditional Persian rug designs, it engages in countervisualization to challenge stereotypes associated with terms like Orient and Orientalism by pixelating the original design.

This work came to fruition through an 11-month collaborative process with Ms. Soureh Shokouhi, an Iranian artisan and entrepreneur, who leads the fe male weavers union in Ardebil, Iran, alongside her exceptional team.
